ABOUT JIM VANCE
JIM VANCE is a USA Triathlon Certified Coach, a professional triathlete and a two-time Amateur World Champion in ITU and XTERRA. He is also the Regional Managing Coach for TrainingBible Coaching in Southern California.
In less than three seasons of triathlon, Jim Vance has made his mark on the sport, winning 2 world titles, and many accolades. Jim is a well-liked, and popular athlete, able to interact with people of all backgrounds, in part thanks to his school teaching experience.
Raised in Michigan and Indianapolis, Jim began running in high school. He was an All-State cross country and track athlete, before walking-on at the University of Nebraska. There he earned a full-athletic scholarship, two academic scholarships and graduated with his degree in 1999. Jim began teaching elementary school, and coaching high school track and cross country teams. In 2003, Jim was exposed to his first triathlon, and the success has come quickly ever since.
In late 2005, Jim took an important step in his life, committing fully to his passion of attempting to make the Olympic Games. He has put his teaching career on hold, in order to devote his life to competing at the highest level.
Jim has been to the US Olympic Training Center, and most recently made a move to Ironman. His debut at the distance was a stunning success, finishing 3rd at Ironman Florida, in a time of 8:37:09!
In his spare time, Jim enjoys running his coaching business via the internet, as well as reading, learning guitar and playing poker.
